On May 14, 2026, the UP IAM InnoRenew CoE premises hosted the final meeting of the projects dedicated to strengthening the project offices of public research organizations. Along with the analysis of best practices and future collaboration, the international CARDEA project was presented.
The meeting brought together over 60 participants from 19 organizations united across four consortia (KRPAN, 5XPRO, ROAD3P, and SKUPP). These consortia were formed under a public call within the Slovenian National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Klavdija Kutnar, Rector of the University of Primorska, and Tomaž Boh, Director-General of the Science and Innovation Directorate at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation. In his address, Boh emphasized the crucial importance of such projects for the long-term strengthening of research capacities, highlighting that the acquired competencies must become a permanent part of institutional operations.
International Cooperation and the CARDEA Project
Alongside a panel discussion on the future of strengthened project offices and the exchange of experiences through study visits abroad, the central part of the program featured a guest lecture by Dr. Ivona Peternel from the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.
Dr. Peternel presented the CARDEA project (Career Acknowledgement for Research (Managers) Delivering for the European Area) in detail to the attendees. On this occasion, the innovative tools of the project were showcased:
The event successfully concluded with networking among participants and agreements on new forms of cross-border cooperation, followed by a professional visit to the San Simon Archaeological Park, which operates under the Science Center of the University of Primorska.
